About Tkay

What is Tkay?

Tkay turns something you learned, like a talk, an article or a note from a meeting, into a change you can actually try on your own work. You capture the idea, Tkay connects it to a goal in one of your projects, a small crew drafts a safe try, and you decide whether to keep it.

Who are Scout, Maker and Checker?

They’re the crew that does each step of a try. Scout finds where an idea connects to your project and explains why. Maker makes the first draft. Checker checks the draft against your current version and says what’s still uncertain. None of them acts without your approval.

Which platforms does it run on?

Tkay is in private testing on iPhone. Android is on the way. There’s no web app yet. Ask for an invite.

Which languages are supported?

English, Español, Português (Brasil), Français, Deutsch, 日本語, 한국어, 简体中文, हिन्दी and العربية, including right-to-left layout for Arabic. Translations other than English are machine-translated and not yet reviewed by native speakers; the app says so in Preferences.

Does it work offline?

You can capture ideas offline. They’re saved on your phone first, encrypted, and sent to your private workspace when you’re back online. Matching, plans and tries need a connection.

Conference mode

How does Tkay pick talks for me?

It follows a path through your workspace graph: from your projects and their goals, through the topics they share with a talk, to the talk and its speakers. Talks with more shared topics, connected to more of your goals, rank higher, and every pick shows its path so you can see why.

A talk with no path to your goals isn’t ranked; it’s listed separately under Other talks. If Tkay can’t reach the graph, it says it can’t explain right now rather than guessing.

Where does the agenda come from?

You paste a link to the conference’s public schedule. Tkay’s server fetches the page, through Bright Data’s live web data service where it’s set up, and reads out the talks. Every agenda shows its source, such as Fetched live with Bright Data or Sample agenda (fictional).

You review the talks, skip or fix anything wrong, and nothing is saved until you import. To try it without a real agenda, use Try a sample agenda: its talks and people are fictional.

AI and your data

Is my data used to train AI?

No. Some drafts are written with OpenAI’s models, and our privacy policy says:

OpenAI processes this for us under its API terms and does not use API data to train its models by default.

We don’t use your data for tracking or advertising, and we don’t sell or rent it.

When does Tkay use AI?

Every plan tells you whether AI will write the draft before you approve it. When it does, only the parts the plan needs are sent: the idea, your goal, your starting point and the relevant text from what you captured (and, for code tries, the relevant files). In drafts, AI-written parts are labeled Written by AI.

Who can see my workspace?

Your personal workspace is private to you. The privacy policy lists the companies that process data for us, such as hosting and AI providers.

How do I get a copy of my data?

In the app: Account → Your data → Export my data.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Account → Your data → Delete my account. This permanently deletes your account and your personal workspace. Deleting the app doesn’t delete your account, and subscriptions are cancelled in your App Store or Google Play settings. More about deletion, including how to ask by email.

Credits and cost

What does it cost?

Tries use credits, which pay for the AI and computing a try uses. Every workspace gets free credits each month. Paid plans and credit packs will be offered in the app through the App Store and Google Play; prices aren’t final yet.

How many credits does a try use?

Each plan shows an estimate and a maximum, for example “about 1 credit, at most 40”. You approve the maximum before anything runs, and whatever isn’t used comes straight back. Your credit history is in Account → Plans & credits.

Code and GitHub

Does Tkay merge or deploy my code?

No. Tries run in an isolated copy of the exact revision you pick, and Tkay runs your checks before and after the change. Nothing is pushed to your branch, merged or deployed. If you want a draft pull request, you approve it separately, and your own GitHub account must be able to push to the repository. It stays a draft for you to review.

Which projects can I try ideas on?

Today, GitHub repositories where the Tkay GitHub App is installed and your GitHub account has access, for Node.js projects whose checks run with npm. Other kinds of projects aren’t supported yet.

What does Tkay get access to on GitHub?

Only the repositories the Tkay GitHub App is installed on. It reads code to run tries; it needs write access only to open a draft pull request you’ve approved. You can disconnect GitHub from the repository list in Account → Connections, and uninstall the app from your GitHub settings.
